It's okay to be nervous! - Boudoir By Kelli | New Hampshire Boudoir Photographer
When you look at these images of the remarkable Miss K, you might be thinking “but WHY would she be nervous? She is gorgeous, and thin and such a babe!” But everyone has their insecurities and fears, and that’s okay! The important thing is to lean into those fears, look them straight in the face and say “not necessary, move along!”
Did you have any obstacles or fears about doing a boudoir session?
“Absolutely. I'm not as skinny or fit as I used to be. I often avoid having my picture taken because all I tend to focus on are my flaws. I was so worried I would spend this money and only be able to see what I don't like. ”
How did the session make you feel?
“I'm an awkward human, but the staff was very easy to feel comfortable with. Knowing Kelli and Susan were there to push my shoulders down or remind me what to do made the whole thing so easy. ”
Did anything surprise you?
“The girl in the pictures. I'm still in disbelief that it was me.”
What would your advice to others be?
“Do not overthink your insecurities. Every single human has flaws. From stretch marks to birth marks, freckles, old injuries... None of that matters. You can see it on the Facebook page, every woman has innate beauty. Kelli and her team show us all that. Don't let being scared hold you back, you will not regret this experience. ”
Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty / sexuality / sensuality / body confidence as a result of this session?
“I would have to say my body confidence has boosted. As I previously stated, my body has changed in the last ten years, I'm no longer a college athlete, but I still eat like one! I'm fifteen pounds heavier and I've always noticed my weight gain in my widened hips and muffin top. None of that was portrayed in my pictures. I felt the most beautiful I have felt since I was in my senior year of college. It just showed me that my beauty is not measured by my pants size. ”
What would you say to people who say they can’t do a boudoir session because they are too shy, nervous, etc?
“It's okay to be shy or nervous. The staff at KMP are wonderful at making you feel at ease. They are not judgmental or cruel, they are women supporting women, and there is no reason to be nervous working with them! ”
No matter where you are at in your journey through life, now is a good time for boudoir. You will never again be who you were yesterday, we are in a constant state of growth and change. Your insecurities may seem daunting to you, but like when we look at Miss K’s image, what seems like flaws to you looks like all the features everyone else loves. It’s okay to be nervous. But it’s even better to be brave.
